How to start a VAZ 2109 with a screwdriver. How to short circuit the wires to start the car

Sometimes unforeseen situations happen in life and any driver can be left without the keys to their car. And such incidents most often occur in nature or in the country. And in order to get to a car service center to replace all the car’s locks, you will first have to start it without a key.

Many modern cars are designed in such a way that they cannot be started without a key. They are equipped with numerous protective mechanisms that can block the steering wheel and starter. Computer chips in the ignition switch will also prevent you from using the vehicle without a key.

Even knowing how to start a car without a key, only those who own cars from the 80s and 90s, and in particular other models of this automaker, will be able to take advantage of this opportunity.

Ways to start the engine without a key

There are 3 ways to use a VAZ 2107 car without an ignition key. You should only apply the methods exclusively on your vehicle. Otherwise, you can become quite familiar with the criminal code.

1 way

Initially, remove the cover covering steering column. Once you have access to the ignition switch, you need to find out the location of the wires. You can determine the required wire (grounding) with a multimeter by shorting the second contact to the car body. There should be no voltage.

Once the wire is identified, it will need to be well insulated so as not to burn the wiring. The remaining cables will be needed to start the engine. Let's connect them together. It is important to then insulate the starter wire so that it does not randomly start turning while the car is moving.

All actions should be performed very carefully and carefully. An error can lead to damage to wiring and sensors. If the vehicle is equipped on-board computer, then it is better not to use this method, but to contact specialists or call a tow truck.

Method 2

In certain brands of cars (VAZ 2101) you don’t even have to remove the steering column cover. It will be enough just to drill a hole slightly above the keyhole, thereby destroying the locking mechanism. If you manage to open the lock, you will be able to start the engine. However, after such manipulations you will have to change the ignition switch. If the car model is newer (VAZ 2109), then the ignition switch will be quite expensive.

3 way

In order to start a vehicle engine without an ignition key, you need to connect the ignition coil to the battery positive. After this, you should run a wire from the starter terminal to the plus of the same battery.

To summarize, it is worth saying that in an extreme situation, you can start the car engine using the methods described above and get to the car service center under your own power. However, it is important to understand that in this way you can cause significant damage to your iron horse. If possible, it is better to use the services of a tow truck.

You've probably seen more than once while watching another action-packed film how main character without keys he gets behind the wheel of a car, pulls out a bunch of wires from under it, connects something to something else, the car starts, and he drives away.

In fact similar situation can happen in everyday life, without any action, chases or other cinematic elements. At any moment, the human factor and the ignition key can come into play; you can simply take it and lose it or break it with a sharp jerk in the door lock or ignition socket, which in itself is quite unpleasant, as it will require expensive repairs and replacement of locks on all doors and the steering column mechanism.

So how can you repeat the trick from the movie and how to start without a key ignition?

To do this, first of all, you need to carefully get to the wires, which will require removing protective casing located under the steering wheel.

After the protection is removed, you will be able to see multi-colored walking wires to the ignition switch. Here it is worth separating the wires from the ignition switch in any convenient and accessible way.

After the wires are disconnected, it is worth determining which wire is where and what it is responsible for in the vehicle’s on-board system.

Let's start with ground wire definitions. Most often, this wire is painted green or black; on some cars, like in household appliances, it may be yellow with a thin green stripe along the entire length of the wire.

To check that the selected wire is indeed a ground wire, you can measure it with a multimeter by connecting one probe to the wire and the other to the car body. If digital indicator shows zero, then we can conclude that “ground” has been found, right. The end of the wire should be insulated with electrical tape or a scraper, otherwise if there is an accidental short circuit with the supply wires, there is a high probability of damaging the vehicle’s on-board system.

In order to identify the wires from which power comes, you can also use the color marking of the wire or a measuring device. Usually, power cord yellow or red, it all depends on its voltage, and there may be more than one. Therefore, it is worth “ringing” all the wires and determining who is who by their voltage relative to the “ground”. This can be done by connecting one of the tester probes to the ground wire or machine body, having previously set the multimeter to the voltage measurement position. After all power wires have been found, they should be grouped and isolated, so that if they have the opportunity to come into contact with the ground or the case without the participation of the tester, this can be dangerous.

For determining starter supply wires, it is necessary to move the handbrake to the neutral position, after which you can alternately connect the undefined wires with the previously defined power wires. One of the wires will make the car's starter work. You can mark it for yourself, for example with colored electrical tape.

The few remaining wires are used to supply power to the vehicle. They must be connected to the wire responsible for supplying voltage. And remember, the connection of these wires must be well fastened, since while the car is moving, the connection may be broken and the car’s engine will stall.

After which we “strike” the wire supplying the starter with voltage, during the circuit the car will start to start. After the car starts, this wire should be removed.

Also, while starting the car, you should not keep the power wire and the starter wire closed for a long time, this can lead to rapid discharge of the battery and failure of the starter itself.

Currently, some modern cars are already starting to get rid of the ignition key using special key fobs, buttons for starting a car or code panels that require entering a special PIN code set by the driver. It’s true that many “garage Kulibins” try to remove the ignition system using a key from the car’s design and assemble a start-stop engine solution with their own hands.

What to expect from the technological process of the automotive industry in engineering solutions ignition systems and vehicle starting, only time will tell, but for now, take care and don’t.

Every car enthusiast should be prepared for all sorts of breakdowns and other unexpected nuances, regardless of the make, condition and year of manufacture of his car. Take, for example, a situation where you, having gone into nature or found yourself far from home, accidentally lost or broke the ignition key. Such cases, as practice shows, are not at all uncommon.

So, without a key? It would be ideal if you had a multitester at hand, but otherwise a regular flashlight bulb will do. A key inserted into the ignition can have three states: power on and off, as well as supply to the starter.

Based on this, you need to find three groups of wires. The first are those that carry power from the battery, the second give it to the car if they are connected to the first, and the third - to the starter when connected to the first. Usually the second and third groups exist in the form of a single wire, so it will not be too difficult to figure out how to start the car without a key.

So, the power is mainly supplied by the thickest and brightest wire, in some cases there are several of them. Ground connections are usually black or green. If the power is a bundle, then we check each wiring included in it with a multitester, and if there is none, we short-circuit it for a short time with a minus and check whether there are sparks.

Have you checked? We continue to figure out how to start a car without a key. Now all those wires that give a spark and the minus need to be separated. To find the one that supplies power to the starter, you need to put the car in neutral and use the handbrake. Next, we check the rest of the wiring by connecting to power until the starter starts working.

Next, to start the car without a key, we connect the power and ground, securing them with electrical tape. Those wires that supply power to the starter are connected to the rest of the wiring until the engine starts, after which the power must be removed.

If you need to open the car, you can try to do it with a wire hook. You need to find a regular wire and bend it into the desired shape at an angle of approximately 45 0, the bent part should be no longer than 10 cm. Next, we push it between the glass and the window seal near the handle, trying to hook the rod with the button and lift it up. This type of opening of car doors is ideal for domestic models.

The second option requires a loop of rope or fishing line. But it is only suitable if the button in the door has an upward projection.

There is also an option with a wire hook for imported cars. The hook must be inserted inside the door by hooking and pulling the handle. You can insert the wire if you bend the corner of the door with tools or improvised means.

If the battery is discharged and the alarm cannot open the door, you can use the lock cable in the hood, hooking it with something and sharply pulling it towards you. If possible, you can connect the power using another battery by connecting wires to the vehicle ground and the starter.

And, of course, the most in a simple way is if the weather permits.

Now, having the knowledge of how to start a car without a key and how to open doors, it’s not so scary to get into such unpleasant situations.

Attention

Shorting wires is a dangerous procedure that can damage your vehicle. Never try to short-circuit the starting wires in someone else's car and be prepared to document your ownership of the vehicle.

Step 1: Use a screwdriver

Drive a flathead screwdriver into the ignition switch and turn it like a key. You will break the lock cylinder, but this method can be effective for starting the engines of many cars made before the mid-90s.

Step 2: Remove the ignition switch cover

If the car does not start, remove the screwdriver from the ignition switch and unscrew the screws on the upper and lower panels of the steering column. Next, use a flathead screwdriver to pry the plastic panels away from the ignition switch cylinder and the wires connected to it. Use caution to minimize damage to the steering column.

Step 3: Locate the Power and Ignition Wires

Identify the power and ignition wires. Typically, two red wires control the car's power, while one or two brown wires are connected to the ignition. Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual to determine the exact wire color code.

Step 4: Connect the power wires

Wear gloves and cut the two power wires from the ignition switch cylinder using wire cutters. Then strip the ends and connect them by twisting them together to supply power to the lights, radio, and other electrical systems.

Step 5: Connect the Ignition Wires

Cut the ignition wires from the cylinder and strip the ends. Be especially careful not to touch the bare ends as they contain high voltage and may shock you. Touch the wires to each other, and when the car starts, separate them again and insulate the ends so as not to receive an electric shock while driving.

Hint

If your car only has one ignition wire, touch it to the exposed part of the connected power wires to start the car.

Step 6: Understand Your Security Tools

Understand your means additional security. On some vehicles, the steering lock can be opened by inserting a screwdriver between the upper steering column panel and the steering wheel.

Hint

IN modern cars Complex wheel locking systems and electronic keys have been installed, which are almost impossible to bypass without special tools and in-depth knowledge.

Step 7: Turn off the car

Stop the car by disconnecting the power cables. Now it's time to find a spare set of keys and head to the repair shop without delay.

Fact

In 2008, the steady decline in vehicle theft in the United States crossed the five-year threshold.
